Areas of expertise
Our research group has a broad portfolio of activities within equilibrium and non-equilibrium thermodynamics. We combine experiments, theory and molecular simulations to address a variety of scientific and industrially relevant challenges, where sustainability and development of fundamental knowledge are important keywords. We work on:
- Equations of state and phase equilibria for bulk and nanoscopic systems.
- Equilibrium and non-equilibrium thermodynamics of heterogeneous systems.
- Equilibrium and non-equilibrium thermodynamics of porous media
- Exergy, minimum entropy production and lost work
- The use of coupled transport phenomena in renewable energy technologies
New research collaborations
One of the best aspects of working in research is that we get the chance to work closely with top motivated researchers to unravel the underlying laws of nature or to solve industrially relevant challenges.
We are looking for new collaborators that can help us to see research challenges from a new perspective. We are particularly interested to get in touch with experimental or molecular simulation focused groups that work with heterogeneous structures, nanosized or non-equilibrium systems.
Write your master Thesis with us
Our group offers a wide selection of Msc. projects within experiments, simulations, and theory development. These projects are closely linked to ongoing research-activities and will be tailored to suit the competence and interest of the student. Interested students should therefore contact us to find a suitable project.
Students that graduate from the group acquire a strong basis in thermodynamics. Some of our graduates pursue a PhD, others are recruited by SINTEF or energy and software development companies, where they work in leading positions, as engineers or as researchers.
